Usability Testing
Interview and Usability Task Design
For the usability test, we combine directed and undirected navigation exercises – using procedures of usability testing, in which respondents suggest their own tasks, and clients also direct them to specific tasks. In addition, we have each respondent view one or two competitive sites. We advise using a usability lab set-up (with an on-site technician) with “picture in picture” display.
Analysis and Reporting
We will distill the findings from the 12 interviews into a tightly constructed PowerPoint report. With Usability studies, we focus on specific recommendations and navigations issues and create a Usability Grid, in which different screens, nomenclature, images and tasks are listed – with respondent reaction and recommended improvements. The other portion of the report will address the broader issues in the study with key-takeaways and areas for future investigation.
Cost for the 12-interview Usability Lab start at $22,000 and increase with complexity of recruiting criteria. Technician-assisted lab set up showing Images of respondents (facial reactions, hand/eye movements) simultaneous with the website. Displayed in “picture-in-picture format”
